The Duras Chair (so-called after a village in the Lot-et-Garonne, in France) is a copy of a 1930's French original. Additional piping and decorative nailing emphasises her gentle curves, looking good from front and back. A sprung seat with a thick, soft feather and down filled cushion and deep seated with a higher than normal back makes this a supremely comfortable chair.
I have included a picture of a special, heavily buttoned chair that we made for a customer, and a shot from Slinfold Golf Club showing a Duras Chair in the company of Lansdowns and Odeon, and a bespoke Duras chair made 3" wider and 2" higher than standard.
In the Spring of 2016, we were commissioned by the Paris office of Phillipe Starck to make a Duras chair for a new hotel project, Hotel La Co(o)rniche, in Pyla-sur-Mer, SW France. Quite a proud moment !
